The KL2 Career Development Awards Program provides high-quality, multidisciplinary training in clinical and translational research to promote the career development of future clinical investigators.

This program provides financial support and benefits that allow scholars to focus on mentored, multidisciplinary research, supplemented by applicable coursework.

This multidisciplinary program reserves one position each year for a St. Louis Children’s Hospital (SLCH) Scholar. The SLCH Scholar is selected specifically for this appointment based on a strong research project that addresses the needs of children and adolescents.

APPLICATIONS ARE ACCEPTED BI-ANNUALLY

Letters of interest due date: February 1st and August 1st

Applications due dates: March 1st & September 1st

All cancer-related projects are encouraged to apply to the Oncology K12 Career Development Award during their annual application cycle period. 

Program benefits

  • 75% of a KL2 Scholar’s salary (up to $75,000 per year)
  • Up to $25,000 per year in research funds and support for travel
  • Dedicated office space and research support
  • Scientific Leadership and Development (SLeD) Seminars
  • Support for travel to scientific meetings, such as the required annual Translational Science National Meeting
  • Graduate-level coursework available, including but not limited to: the Certificate in Clinical Investigation, the Master of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI), or the Master of Population Health Sciences (MPHS)
  • Participation in the Clinical Research Training Center (CRTC) KL2 Career Development Program may count toward the requirements of the NIH Loan Repayment Program (LRP). Visit the LRP website for more information.
