Eligible individuals not enrolled in a WashU degree program are able to enroll in up to 9 credits of coursework as a non-degree seeking scholar. Credits earned can later be applied to the certificate or Master of Science in Clinical Investigation.

Clinical Investigation Bootcamp

Clinical Investigation Bootcamp is one great way for scholars to gain knowledge in the core competencies of clinical research and investigation including study design, statistical approaches, and scientific communication. One way scholars can jumpstart their research is to complete these three courses (8 credits) which can be completed in 1-2 years.

Clinical Investigation Bootcamp coursework

Designing Outcomes and Clinical Research
(CLNV 5100, 3 credits)

This course is designed for health care professionals who wish to conduct patient-oriented clinical research and covers how to select a clinical research question, outline a research protocol, and execute a clinical study.

Introduction to Statistics for Clinical Research
(CLNV 5150, 3 credits)

This is an introductory course in statistics with a focus on the use of statistical analysis in clinical research. It is taught using SPSS statistical analysis software commonly used in clinical research.

Grantsmanship OR Scientific Writing and Publishing
(CLNV 5160, 2 credits) OR (CLNV 5170, 2 credits)

CLNV 5160 teaches scholars how to develop research and career development grant proposals and organize and present sound research and career development plans.

CLNV 5170 teaches the proper techniques of writing and publishing a biomedical manuscript including writing a working title and structured abstract as well as hand drawing of figures and tables.

Program eligibility

  • Level of Education: Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree.
  • Citizenship: Registration is limited to scholars who are citizens, non-citizen nationals, permanent residents, or hold a valid US visa.
  • Residence: Most classes meet in person in St. Louis, though some courses have hybrid or remote options.

Tuition

Tuition for the 2025-2026 Academic Year is $1,560 per credit for Medical School Graduate Programs. New tuition rates always begin on July 1 of each year.
