Alison Antes, PhD Appointed as MSCI Director

The WashU Medicine Clinical Research Training Center (CRTC) is thrilled to share that Alison Antes, PhD has been appointed as the Director of the Master of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) Degree Program.

Dr. Antes is an Associate Professor in the Bioethics Research Center and the Division of General Medicine and Geriatrics at WashU Medicine. She conducts research on responsible conduct of research (RCR), leadership and management in science, and patient values in health informatics and AI.

Dr. Antes’ rich experience in research education and career development make her a fitting choice for Director of the MSCI. She leads COMPASS, a national program supporting early-career biomedical researchers to develop leadership and management skills, and co-directs the Professional Skills for Researchers Coaching Program, which addresses research integrity, compliance, and lab management and communication. Additionally, she co-directs the ICTS-sponsored RCR Course that fulfills the NIH requirement for 8-hours of instruction in RCR.

As the new MSCI Director, Dr. Antes has voiced her mission to elevate training opportunities through a collaborative approach:

The MSCI program has a successful history at WashU Medicine. As Director, I aim to build on its strengths and innovate for the future of clinical research training. I look forward to collaborating with staff, faculty, and scholars to advance both the program and their individual careers and research impacts.

We would like to acknowledge that the program has continued to garner success in thanks to prior leadership. Departing MSCI Director, Amy McQueen, PhD, has taken a role in the School of Public Health, and we are truly grateful to her for all her contributions while leading the program.

The MSCI Director role is an exciting opportunity for Dr. Antes to leverage her experience and passion for researcher career and professional development, and we are excited to see how she will take the program to the next level.
