This session, led by Keith Lohse, PhD, PStatⓇ will cover Rigor and Reproducibility as defined by the NIH. Rigor refers to the application of the scientific method while emphasizing unbiased and well-controlled experimental design, methodology, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of results. Reproducibility refers to the ability of other researchers to obtain the same result given the same data (i.e., strict “reproducibility”), or obtain a similar result when a new sample of data is taken (i.e., do we get the same result across studies? – sometimes referred to as “replication”). Dr. Lohse will discuss threats to rigor and reproducibility, and how to make your research more robust in a fast-paced scientific world.
This seminar is part of the CRTC Career Development Seminar Series. The Career Development Seminar Series offers periodic workshops and presentations open to all trainees, faculty, and staff on professional development, best practices, resources, and guidelines pertaining to research.
