After 240 hours of classroom learning and 2,000 hours of hands-on experience, our second cohort of Clinical Research Professional (CRP) Apprentices has successfully completed the program! A huge congratulations to this year’s graduates: Harmon Kreuger and Mounia El Kalai. We would also like to acknowledge the dedication of WashU Medicine departments and centers that make this program possible. Harmon worked in the Department of Anesthesiology and Mounia in the Department of Surgery, both receiving support from the Center for Clinical Studies.
First approved in 2023, this pioneering program marked a major milestone for workforce development as one of the first university-based partnerships with the U.S. Department of Labor to offer a CRP Apprenticeship. That momentum has carried strongly into this second cohort. The program continues to attract regional talent, train motivated individuals with little to no prior experience, and launch them into their careers.
Overall, I feel my skills have developed significantly throughout the apprenticeship. The focused coursework and hands-on shadowing opportunities helped me become more confident, organized, and prepared for the responsibilities of a Clinical Research Coordinator.
